Chinese tones

What is pinyin?
Pinyin is the phonetic romanised version of Chinese.

Chinese is a tonal language. What does this mean?
Chinese has different tones for different words e.g.bā means 8, and bà means father or dad.

How many tones are there?
There are 4 tones in Chinese

Describe how your voice changes for each tone
Tone 1 - High and flat
Tone 2 - Rises
Tone 3 - Drops then rises
Tone 4 - Drops
